Sleek Modern Bathroom

The homeowner wanted to upgrade the more traditional aspects of their home, which was most apparent in the bathroom. This project transformed a dated bathroom into a sleek, modern primary ensuite bath.

Highlights of the project included:

  • A new layout that included the removal of an angled wall and repositioning of the shower, bathtub, vanities and toilet.
  • Removing the lowered ceiling above the original vanities and moving the vanities to separate areas to create “his and hers” spaces.
  • Using high-end modern finishes including a gorgeous soaker tub against a tile feature wall.

A contemporary transitional design was achieved through the use of scalloped marble tile on the walls, plank tile on the flooring, walnut floating cabinetry with quartz counters, modern style plumbing fixtures, and a partition of solid teak to screen the toilet (fabricated on site). The paired hanging pendants help to break up the space visually, and to give a lower and cozier feeling to the high ceiling.

It is important to note that this project took place during the height of quarantine in 2020. While the homeowners were able to move to their vacation home during a portion of construction, we chose a unique solution to stay out of their home. Rather than enter/exit through the existing door and having to access the home, we opened the wall between the new bathroom and the adjacent garage (until the back wall of the shower needed to be closed up and tiled). Materials and contractors were able to move in and out of the space directly from the garage to minimize exposure.

This home also includes the Classic Kitchen Refresh and the Fireplace & Built-In Updates.
